Every year college and university students experience a growing number of fire-related emergencies. There are several causes for these fires; however most are due to a general lack of knowledge about fire safety and prevention.
Report all fires immediately to the 9-1-1 operator by using any of the emergency telephones found in the building. Activate your building fire alarm. If necessary: Follow building evacuation procedures.
Take essential personal possessions with you (e.g. car keys, glasses, purse, and medications).
If you are trapped in a building on fire, hang an article of clothing, towel, etc. outside the window to mark your location. Stay close to the floor where the air is more breathable. Shout at regular intervals to alert emergency personnel.
Know the locations of fire extinguishers, 消防出口, (an alternate exit) and the alarm system stations.
There are few false fire alarms, so every Alarm needs to be taken seriously. It is a myth to think you are safe as long as you don’t see or smell smoke. 火s travel quickly and may block your escape routes within minutes.
